Well, Dermalogica has now come up with their Ultra Calming Duo; Barrier Defense booster and the ultra calming water gel.
This duo is specifically designed to treat sensitive, dehydrated skin. So no matter how severe your skin gets, you need not fear anymore.
Each of the products are combined with the best of nature’s botanicals which helps defend the skin and not only that, but act as protection to help keep your skin youthful and healthy in the long term.
Before we get going any further, I must admit I have tested both of these product’s for a good couple of weeks (3 weeks +) and It’s now safe to
share my review as follows.
The Barrier Defense Booster Description R1,235 (30ml):
“This is a concentrated oil booster which is said to help nourish and relieve dryness while it helps the skin reinforces barrier integrity against future irritation. With Squalane locks in moisture and the Oat Oil helps combat sensitivity and also help keep your skin healthy and luminous.”
What I quite like about this packaging is that with just a press of a button, dispenses the ample amount of product. This is such an amazing idea as it ensures no product wastage. As previously mentioned, This is an Oil based product and it is quick-absorbing.
• Once applied onto my face, I noticed that it did not leave my face looking oily or greasy, but helped enhance my radiance while leaving a healthy glow to my skin.
I have normal to combination skin type with some dry areas being around my mouth and chin area and since it’s winter, I have noticed my skin getting really dry and dull and so what I decided to do is mix this concentrated oil with my moisturizer to help give me more of a “pick me up look”. The best decision I ever made thus far (haha)
ge – I simply dispense about 6-10 drops onto my palm and then pat onto my face and neck twice a day.
Ultra Calming Water gel R899 (50ml)
“Weightless water-gel moisturizer hydrates dry, sensitive skin. Refreshing gel formula transforms into a skin-quenching fluid upon application, forming a weightless barrier against environmental assault. Dual Hyaluronic Acid technology works in different skin surface layers to increase and lock in moisture. Apple Fruit Extract and Glycerin hydrate and soften while defending skin against dryness. Cactus Pear Extract helps soothe sensitivity and imparts water-binding properties to help support healthy moisture”
For the packaging- it comes in an airless tube like packaging with a flip open/close cap.
• Scent- non- Fragrance , However, if you have tried any of Dermalogica’s products before, you would notice all of their products have a “signature scent” even though it’s not fragranced.
• As per description, This is a water gel texture based moisturizer. It is weightless and quick absorbent. Once applied onto the skin. It left my face with a satin – soft finish as opposed to a matte finish which I love.
• For usage- squeeze a pea size amount of product onto palm thereafter gently pat onto the face and neck. I suggest that you use it twice daily to see better results.
Are There Any Downsides To These Products?
No! I have normal to combination skin. My skin is super sensitive and now and then I tend to get breakouts and to be honest this duo has worked wonders for me. If you are prone to oily/ acne skin, I’m not sure in terms of that, but I’m sure it wouldn’t mess up your skin but I could be wrong. If you interested in trying these products out, I would suggest that you get a skin mapping done at your nearest Dermalogica store.
A skin mapping is a skin test that shows what skin type and analyzes the problem areas you have. With this information provided will then help choose the products suited accordingly.
I must say, Being a supporter of Dermalogica, for many years now and Dermalogica has and will always win my heart. Great innovation and value for money. The only thing I got to pick out on is that their product’s are pricey. Neverthless, They are worth every cent spent on. I can’t recommend them enough!
